Are SurveilForge accessories compatible with Hikvision cameras?
Yes. Hikvision IP cameras use standard IEEE 802.3af/at PoE over RJ45 and DC 12V, which is exactly what our PoE switches, injectors, power supplies and connectors support. SurveilForge is an independent brand and not affiliated with Hikvision.
Do your products work with Dahua cameras?
Yes. Dahua IP cameras follow the same open standards (802.3af/at PoE, RJ45, DC 12V), so our switches, cables and power gear connect and power them without issue.
What does "PoE" mean and do I need a PoE switch?
PoE (Power over Ethernet, IEEE 802.3af/at) sends power and data over one Ethernet cable, so an IP camera needs only one CAT5e/CAT6 run to a PoE switch or injector. If your camera is "PoE", you need a PoE switch or injector — not a separate power cable.
What is the difference between 802.3af and 802.3at?
802.3af delivers up to 15.4W per port (enough for most domes and bullets). 802.3at (PoE+) delivers up to 30W for high-power devices like PTZ cameras, heaters and some 4K models. 802.3at ports are backward compatible with 802.3af devices.
